Travesty
Yes, the drop on camper style, I have only seen over here on full sized US trucks, some are getting quite large, however they have always been popular. I hear they are popular with fisherman, so that they can also tow a boat to the camping spot.I think those are permanently attached to the cab, I could wind mine up on legs and drive out from underneath leaving the living accommodation behind like in the first pic.
The little girl in the Toyota pic is 44 now with kids 16 and 13! And the woman on the right (mother in law) died ten years ago aged 86. Still got the wife though..
Simca Aronde ?
It was a bit of a washout with the weather, otherwise there would have been more bikes I expect. The Sunbeam was lovely, always fancied one.
There is just no fun being at a car show in the rain. Been there, not for me anymore. I check the weather before hand now, if it's any more than a light drizzle I give it a miss.I went there on Saturday afternoon when the weather was just threatening, though I didn't get around the vehicles much, just the autojumble (which had a lot of empty spaces in it, compared to previous years). I spent Sunday at nearby Cholmondeley Castle where it rained all day. I say "all day", people were starting to go just after noon, then it turned into an exodus. I stuck it until 1pm, such a pity.
Pretty sure it was, not many of them in the UK or Wales !Simca Aronde ?
Part of it was that I didn't want to let the other club members down, and part of it was that I'd pre-paid for my display entry. I'd already got the car wet (I don't keep them at home, so I had to take it home the night before) and I was hoping the weather would get better. Most of the autojumble didn't turn up, and probably more than half of the display cars. I didn't envy the guy in the much-modified Ford Anglia who'd come from Anglesey (90-odd miles) and had to spend the day thinking about how rotten the journey home was going to be.There is just no fun being at a car show in the rain. I used to have a Romahome demountable camper - that was mounted on the back of a tiny Honda TN550 pickup.Yes, the drop on camper style, I have only seen over here on full sized US trucks, some are getting quite large, however they have always been popular. On the little Toyota's, those were dual wheel 1 ton, and you can see in the pix, from inside the back, you can pass thru to the front.
So the cab has been cut permanently for the install.
