Pillar Drill mods

My drill has a recess it fits into nicely and while I have quite a lot of light in the workshop it’s handy to have a bit more in some cases.

For table clamps I got a 2 set from machine mart but they only seem to do one now.

Guy in shop said many people buy and don’t use but I do. It’s handy to have work pieces clamped and on now danger of flying off to do their own thing.

And then finally the laser.

And I do use it. It's not super accurate but I find in handy to know to about 1mm where the drill will go just helps position things a touch quicker.

The unit is fine but it blocked my light slightly (still plenty of light but I don't like the bodge look it had) and I wanted it mains so I slightly adjusted it...

And then a control panel using a monitor arm, my old chuck box and various switches I had lying around. Got a 12v adaptor from Amazon to drive it all.

One of the good things is I could take it all off if I wanted to. So that’s my list. I’m pretty pleased with all of the mods. None of them are truly needed but I find just makes it that bit easier a just slightly nicer / safer experience when drilling holes.

I've seen these and was turned off by the fact they are battery driven. What components did you order so you could power it from mains? Also, does the laser need adjusting depending on the thickness of what you are working on/whether you raise or lower the table?

FWIW, I wouldn't worry about batteries, probably doesn't draw that much but you could get a small power supply that would do the job
