again lads thanks, runnach i kept this thread open in the hope of making it as informative as i could on pipe, im afraid im not familiar with stt, could you explain? f/j
Give me experience like that any day over modern technology. Class post F/J
seems like a lot of technology to go wrong, think the tradional way wud be best imho
6 + 6 - 2 in their heads
Its like todays kids and computers, they cant add 6 + 6 - 2 in their heads
Hi Runnach, I agree with you to a point, I bought a synergic mig last year although I only tend to use it on alloy. Iam sure the STT technology is amazing but its also going to be very pricey, which is OK for corporations but not so great for small one man shows. It will also reduce chargeable time on a job which is good for the customer not the welder. Also the more processeses that are available like this detract from apprentice's skill level with say stick. Its like todays kids and computers, they cant add 6 + 6 - 2 in their heads
Hi Runnach, I was'nt saying it was an inferior process, I would love to try it! I would see it as a more specialised production pipe process. I had a look on the lincoln site there just now, plenty info ,but no price. regarding the apprentice issue, more and more workshops are favouring mig, for obvious reasons, and i feel this is to the detriment of stick welding. it becomes obvious when the welder has to leave the workshop and carry out work on a hillside in the ******* of nowhere.
Nice bit of welding, there. regarding tig root 6013 fill and cap.
But I have a question?
why are you weaving on the cap. Allow i know it all depends on the industry you work in.
Try splitting the cap.
