Plasterboarding ceiling joints, when panels meet end on.

As per title.

I thought I was done jointing and sanding, but, no.

Apparently, I can go get more podge.... Damn!

The future kitchen ceiling needs doing, and as I can't afford to employ anyone, it's yours truly...

It's only 55m2. 90% of the plasterboard is up, the remaining 10% can wait as there's a temporary staircase going into the future bathroom. As the back shed flooded over winter.

Where the plastetboard panel meet longitudinally, ok, I can do them... Tape and podge, sticky bandage more specifically.

Where the short ends meet, what do I do?

I've been told you use that paper stuff, and sand it down flatish, if I do this it will probably bug me for the rest of my life every time i look at the ceiling.

Just spent 45 minutes trawling the tube, no help.....

Thoughts please folks.

Agree with you on the short ends - they would bug me as well, and I don’t know how the pros get over that problem either, other than taping and then filling over a much wider area to disguise the hump. So if it was me I would just scrim tape and skim the whole thing. If you are cutting out for a stair well later on I’d stick a batten up in the right place so you have an edge to work up to.
Having said all that, skimming 55m2 is probably more than I could manage on my own these days - I’d want someone to knock up for me and I’d still end up on my knees at the end of it!

ps have you got enough screws in? Looks a bit light to me, though they may not be 8’x4’ boards of course

I've a rasp, could make a mess!

I've vee'd verticals and that's worked, but been told it could crack in the long term...

@Newlands , no way in hell, I'm skimming the whole lot! I'm crap enough already!

Been told, paper joint it a sand it back! My ceiling would look like the sea with my hmmm skills.

And, I'd probably die or go insane in the process.

For the ends with no taper just do it old school.

Cut the paper away in at the join to leave a trough for the tape to go into then deal with it in the same way as you would a taped join.

Or simply have a go at plastering, in reality it's not that hard to do a job better than crappy taped joins and you've plenty time to fix any defects, they say you shouldn't sand plaster.... nonsense, I say hello Mr DA sander.

you should be using the above for all joints except wall corners, you use plastic edging for external corners and the paper stuff for internal corners.

Get a plasterer to bond and set it, job done. Cant stand dry lining

where are the two end joints in the above ceiling?

i did it myself and im no pro. the entire ceiling was laid out before the walls went up hence 2 end joints in such a small room.
