I think mine was even wider! , I got the hang of it after 6 full rooms, the 7th came out great, and much quicker, what really got to me was when the guy I sold the building to ripped everything out, all the walls, lowered ceilings the whole lot, I asked the guy doing the strip why? and he said that he new owner did not believe that I had used fire grade plaster board and had insulated it properly, the skips was full of red board and rockwool...………. he even ripped out the 6 new fire escape e glass windows I had installed about three years before as he wanted to put more in and wanted them all to match, all he had to do was ask me, before he screwed me for £20k I might have told him where they came from...…………..

I have been using Gyproc ready mixed joint cement for years and it sands very smooth and easy, I apply it with various things but i mainly use marshalltown taping tools and i do it in 2 layers to get it as smooth as possible to reduce sanding, I find a gap between the boards about 3mm or the thickness of a drywall screw is about right for filling and drying times

As long as you feather it out enough should be fine. But you will likely end up with a 300mm strip of filler

These help, i tend to plaster but well sanded dylining looks no different to plaster

Try your best to get you filler good of the trowel first coat maybe 4inches wide. Once dry Second coat 9inches wind, i cant stress the importance of getting it good of the trowel saves a lot of sanding.
