It flashes and all sorts, comes with a nice little bag as well - I think it may start cars?Sorted then.

ive got a i think a cheapy one bought for not much 2nd hand ive never had the chance to use it as yet but the reviews seam ok on it but i used it once to recharge my phone and the battery was half flat so cant see it doing much to a car but i just hope i never have to use it on my car 
ive all way carry a set of jump leads good quality ones and used those a few times at work to help a few people out but only had the battery pack for a couple months

Got a noco 150, starts everything here from ride on mower to 4.6l 100hp tractor, wouldn’t want to be without it.

How long are these things likely to last though, if they are charged and left unused ?
If one buys one for emergency use and the odd tractor start. I dont leave any batteries on seldomly used vehicles as they tend to disappear, and much easier than carting a big battery about.
Are they likely to last five years or so ?

I have a Noco GB70...starts a Case 4210 every so often and an Isuzu pickup for a bit (until found out an electric window was drainig the battery), I got it in 2018 and (don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure!) think I've only charged it 5 times, takes ages charging it with USB
The instructions with the ones we sell recommend charging every 6 months if unused. How long they will last? I've only been working there for a year!

Some of them are claiming 4,000Amps (or should that be milliAmps, or 4A ?) and 24,000 milliamp hours (which I believe means 24 Amp?)
So still don't get it, electrically, why you say one of these will work better than my spare battery,
which sits patiently at 12.85volts with 100Amps (100,000 milliAmps) and 830 Cold Cranking Amps (830,000 milliAmps)

They won't work better than a fully charged spare battery of course not, but you can't carry one of those around in your pocket.
I have to admit I was sceptical until I tried one. The fitter who loaned it to me said that he disconnected the battery from his Transit and used the pack to start it 3 times in succession.

You cant leave these packs connected, they are only for initial starting. Will the tractor stay running without a lead acid?
I have lipo's that are 10year old+ in good shape but OTOH most of my usb power banks have failed in 1year.
I have a Lidl powerbank sitting in the garden as it swelled up and havent decided how to dispose of yet, might take it back to shop if I remember.
Only better as in lighter, quicker to charge and less likely to degrade over time.

I realise that it cannot stay connected. All the electrics are dead on the tractor, thanks to rodents, and are all disconnected. The alternator is just an idler for the fanbelt.
The tractor will run with no electrics connected
I would want to connect the jump starter direct to the starter, just to start it, then disconnect it.
My concern would be that can a jump starter be used, and work standalone, without the assistance of whatever dregs of a charge are left in a "dead" connected battery ? I.E. a traditional jump start.
