Fully assembled, only one light as the other was DOA

Hooked it up for a quick test, shot some powder in the air just inside the front, most of it dropped to the floor and the rest slowly drifted rearwards - looks like it might all work

Turn the filter the other way so the pleats are facing down, as over time they will sag placed in that way

Argh, too late for this build, its fitted now, but to be honest the pleats do appear fixed in the card frame and have a wire mesh embedded in them so maybe it will be ok.

Too late ? Can’t you just turn it round it’s 600 square nominal size? Or 24 ? It’ll still work the same just may not last as long. Looks like you’ve done a quality job though mate !

Your gonna need that light closer to the front of the booth or the shadows will hide creases and reveals you might have missed

Hmm, my thoughts were that the lights are about where the hook/rack will be so its lit on both sides.

I might add some more after testing.

You are correct, I'll have to fit something to the top front flap.

A word of caution....

When testing a powder booth and new spray setup for the first time, do not forget to connect the suction hose from the hood to the extract fan

In my enthusiasm I forgot and proceeded to test the new spray setup - i was thinking the extract was poor, pretty disappointed, then i realised the shop was full of powder dust, clouds of it everywhere

I left it to settle for an hour and fixed my error, the booth worked a lot better then, just the lighting to sort out.

Currently have the extract being recirculated via the original chip collection bag on the fan, will check inside after a while and see if there is any powder getting by the filter.

Stuck the powder unit on some little legs so i can see the LEDS better, all fits in pretty well and a damn sight better than four pallet tops and an old cooker hood

Still need to figure some lighting for the front top flap to light the front of the work better. I could drill the rivets, take the door off and plasma cut the door panel then drop in two or three more of the LED panels, or maybe something i can mount without pulling the door off?

Looks a cracking job ! You can purchase a magnet led light which can be powered into mains not too sure how expensive they are though

This is just an example can get far better ones. If you type in magnetic led light I’m sure something will come up. I suppose the beauty of this is that you can move it around where needed I.e below the work piece

Ok so the new booth works really well, main failure is filter life - being direct in the line of fire from the powder gun it clogs really fast, maybe 10 parts or so.

So need to improve design. My first thoughts are to fit a steel panel 2/3 of the height vertically in front of the filter unit, forcing the airflow to go down then up into the filter - this might attract more of the charged powder onto the steel panel thus reducing the workload on the filter??

Any thoughts?
