Sadly that is nature. Allow me to remind you of some of the atrocities that Humans perpetrate against innocents, yet we claim to be intelligent. Cats know no more than instinct.
Thankfully only one of ours has ever shown any interest. Their stomping ground is all surrounded by wire mesh fencing now so they can look at the bird feeder customers but not touch.

You can see the cat's enclosed area to the left. One of them sits for hours watching the bird feeders and the free range hens on the other side of the fence.
People are held responsible for their atrocities.........If cats cant help themselves their owners should take more responsibility and make sure they dont kill birds for no reason (they dont eat them)...

But people are not held to account. There are even members of this very forum who enjoy killing and think it is normal and reasonable to murder wildlife for the flimsiest of excuses. Then they brag about it.
Cats are acting on instinct for survival. I don't like it either which is why they are fenced in. As has been pointed out before, there is aways a non violent way to deal with any problem, even Human sadists.

Why would anyone have a problem with someone else's cat?
I mean, you have a pet, you keep it in your own home. When you take it out its on a lead, and you have a back pocket full of bags with which to clean up after it. You're always with it when it's out on land not owned by you, so you know it's not just killing.
It exhibits no cost whatsoever to society.
I mean, why would anyone ever have a problem with someone owning a cat?

Killing to survive???.....there would be some enormous cats knocking abour after eating 27 million birds and 275 million other animals

Cats are not answerable to anyone which is why (tragically) you are not obliged to report running one over. My cats are no trouble to anyone or any thing, apart from my wallet and heart.
At least cats are clean by nature and will bury what they do. Dogs will crap anywhere they happen to be standing so that you are bound to walk through it.
