I think it's industry dependent in that therory. Yes if your sticking things together and farting about looking for perfect weld dimensions and profiles but you won't get a rollicking by welding up a perfect pipe joint without defect.

Like I said originally to wp given or don't spend too long showing off. Get it done make it right but don't over cook the bill without good reason

Yes Dave I understand. In my last job one of the ships needed a new exhaust as it was leaking CO Into the sleeping accommodation.
Had to near come to a punch-up with the boss who was a Complete w***** to allow me the time to sort it and weld in new pre fabricated exhaust stacks (they were Cat 3406 engines) he just said get the boat on the f****** way to the job knowing there was a safety concern. Still hope he gets his one of these days...

No like if I tacked a rail together instead of welding it up they would say its fine or if your Irish send her on lad! Haha
