Agree. That's kinda what I meant. If I was doing it with a jack this would be quickest. But my God still so slow!

from my point of view its the scissor part i like as it lifts faster than a bottle jack does
now if it had a decent wedge to split the wood i think it would do
the downfall of that type is not enough tonnage pressing upwards
for an age reference instead of swinging an axe

try this build but its a hydraulic build and id rather build a ram on its side
now the video i shown on the other page uses just wheels and a slider whilst many other sliders use gears to turn the ram
they get expensive same as hydraulic and the ram kinetic type which will fail due to chewed gears and ram cog
hydraulic ram will last the longest but also needs repairs to them new seals for the hydraulic pump kit i think and new ram seals as well
but is also the most expensive of the lot

post 63 does deserve a mention as not everyone can swing an axe theres a difference between the sizes of them
as goes for any machine out there you can loose fingers/thumbs easily enough and that includes hand axes
most of the time i just use a club hammer and wedges to split the wood

I have one of those, it's been spot on.
Must be at least 8-9 years old now, so no cage round it, I also configured the run button to foot control so It can be operated 1 handed, I can do a tonne of wood in a couple of hours with it like that.
Only had a couple of logs that it wouldn't split, I've made some adapters for it so it will cut right to the end of the ram.
Well handy!
