Rivnuts look interesting but i bet i would need another tool as a normal rivet gun wont work with them.Rivnuts for fixing hinges to frame?
Exactly like that. Hopefully i can weld the hinge plate straight.
i would have just welded it from side i'm not mounting the hinge to. Will do as you've said i have some 4mm plate.clamp a piece of thick plate 10mm or so or box to the frame and then clamp plate to that to keep it straight.
weld it up, then grind it flat. then clamp other way around so you can weld the back of plate to box.

You can do riv nuts with a piece of threaded bar washers & a nut

Not trying to match the doors to the counter top. White doors and hopefully a light natural colour on the counter top.What are you going to do on the doors? MDF might not finish as the same shade as the [hardwood?] top, after the varnish is applied....
