The drawings above show the normal shoulder and thead seal, it is possible to end seal if the fittings are designed to do it.
The fitting in the picture is a plumbing fitting, probably parallel.
It makes life a lot easier if you spec taper fitting as you can tweek them to line things up.
I buy any I need from my local hydraulic suppliers.where is the best/cheapest place for such fittings?
Sorry I don't know, ask before you buy!are the normal pcl qr fittings from screwfix BSPP

Are the fittings correct? You're not trying to fit taper and parallel or parallel x parallel together With tape? A lot of problems come from mixing threads, they bottom out or run out of threads before the threads bind and deform to form the seal.
Is that the thicker one designed for 2 wraps, i dont use it and stick to the traditional thinner original ptfe tape.
Loctite 572 is also very good as its liquid ptfe. It does not set as hard as 577 so is easier to dismantle if required. I use this on all sorts of joints as an anti vibration and sealant on sump plugs and pipe joints. clean dry joints are required normally. Leave to set for 15 minutes. A small ring of 572 in the gap between the washer and the fitting is usually enough.
Thanks I have used those with the reducing bushes on my compressors with no leaks I think they are not compatible with the China Ts in bsptThat is a parallel thread Mr Chef, normally used on a running nipple with backnuts.

LSX is good stuff but the OP asked about fittings on an air receiver, LSX is cured by moisture so more suitable for water connections. For pipe/threads/joint sealing I am a devout LSX user. Stuff is just great. https://www.fernox.com/plumbing-consumables/ls-x-external-leak-sealer-50ml
I have some of that in my boxFor pipe/threads/joint sealing I am a devout LSX user. Stuff is just great. https://www.fernox.com/plumbing-consumables/ls-x-external-leak-sealer-50ml
