What is that blue car lift, you've got?

How high does it go?

It is the Mid Rise Lift from BH Repairs. If I shut the garage door it will go up to 1.2m. I bought this one rather than the platform scissor that picks the car up on the sills as I needed to work on the sills on both my cars. With this one you can either lift the car on the sill or on the suspension/mounts. This one also only has one bar across the middle so its still easy enough to remove the exhaust or prop shaft.

SJR Garage Equipment sell the same unit that I have, both imported from China.

The other source is Automatech who have a similar unit, but has a double cross brace which would restrict access more.

Price (from a few years ago) inc VAT and delivery (to Dunfermline)and hydraulic fluid;

SJR - 1 year guarantee - £1270
Automotech - 1 year guarantee - £1339
BH Repairs - 3 year guarantee - £1423

I ended up buying the BH Repairs unit due to their pre delivery testing, 3 year warranty, and best email responsiveness, the unit also comes with the hydraulic fluid and a 13A plug so it is ready to go. I figured that if there was a problem with the unit it would be a hell of a job to send it back so the pre delivery testing was worth the extra cash to me.

It is heavy work getting it installed on your own but luckily the delivery guy helped pull the pallet into my garage which would have been impossible on my own.

I have a set of Neway cutters which I have owned for nearly 40 years. I have only used them 2 or 3 times. Not sure they will be good value for money!
I don't know how good they are on modern hard valve seats but they work well on cast iron.

Scrap was the wrong work, should have said retire, I never throw anything semi useful away.

I'd imagine [at least] some will be high tensile, and expensive to replace.

They will cut hardened seats but it is hard work , seems to help using proper cutting fluid when using

Well that's most of the hardware ordered from Belmetric in nice yellow passivated zinc, I will re-plate/reuse the M12 nuts and bolts. Trying to plate over 400 items myself would have just taken too long. The cost came in at about £95 for 422 items, however shipping is £40, then import tax will be the final sting in the tail.

Impressive, but how long did iy take to put that shopping list together, and wernt you only supposed to be painting the engine bay ?

Yea, took me all day to sort the excel sheet and the get it ordered. Hope I get all this finished for next spring.

The Roland piano just sold on ebay for £220, priced it cheap to turn it quickly, that will cover a fair chunk of the nuts and bolts!

I got a price direct from Neway, more than I expected, one cutter, 4 pilots (needed as I was on the transition size for both exhaust and inlet valve sizes), T handle and shipping $335 + import tax and handling say £40, just too expensive.
