That looks like a Palmer Johnson. We supplied a lot of the kit they used to make this one in Southampton a few years back now.

DB9 she was called or DB5, I can't remember.

I tend to just use it for external corners or round tubes such as handrails. It can give very pleasing results and those can be very different in look depending on the parameters set and speed of travel.

Testing some more my machine have a lot of functions. This is with slope up and slope down, cool function

The slope up is often better as a slope down or in other words a hot start. If you set the start current to be 120-130% of the main current then it provides a hot arc for the start of the weld which helps a lot in Aluminium.
The crater fill at the end is also nice.
What welder do you have?

I have a Parweld DP231C (Fimer) and you are correct about the slope up (down) my manual says initial/final current

I saw them a few years ago and thought about getting one but for some reason Parweld stopped selling them under their name, no idea why.

Does it have a special 4T mode for the trigger? If it does then that is very handy as it allows you to control the duration of the hot start and also the duration of the crater fill both via the trigger. Also it may allow you , when in single pulse mode, to tap the trigger at any time during the weld and the current will drop to a lower current, tap again and it will go back to main, that is very handy if things are getting a bit hot, it allows the weld to cool a bit.

Yes, it is the 4bi-level. Haha, not tested that function yet, multitasking while welding is something i need to practice i have had the machine for a while but haven´t had much time to play around with it. Last week i understood a major error i was doing, i used half of the gas flow i should have. Now it runs great, but i have a lot of practicing a head.

I run around 17LPM but often outdoors I have to up it to 20LPM.

I found the manual for it last night and as you say the 4bi mode seems to be the same as what EWM call Special 4T, it is a very nice mode to be in as you have full control over the duration of both the hot start and the crater fill.

As said most of the time I am just using single pulse but outside corners I will tend to put into super pulse (double pulse) as long as it doesn't involve me having to clamber down a ladder to get to the wire feed unit, if it does I just stick with single

Couple of todays welds, outside was double pulse, inside was single.

Wow that’s nice! I made an ugly cube haha it is supposed to become a fuel tank. It is made from some scrap 5mm. Not really pleased how it turned out, but it was more of a test to try some different parameters. What settings would you have for an outside corner in 5mm? What dia wire would you use?

Aye, a bit hot there.
My welder isn't here at the moment as I am at the workshop today and it is up at the place I am fitting out the Cheetah Cat so I am not really sure what the settings I have set are.
I have a few programmes stored but the Super Pulse one I use most often I think I have something like 130% for hot start, I think I have a Global voltage trim of +1.1 and timings for the pulses I think are 0.2 for main and 0.5 for lower. I am not sure if I have voltage trims set for them or not and I am not sure what % the lower current is set to.
I will be back there tomorrow and if I remember I will have a look.

Regarding the currents I am not actually sure as I tend to just have it set to thickness rather than current or wire feed but if for example I was set to 5mm on single pulse and then switched the welder to double the display would drop down to maybe 3mm and that is where I tend to keep it for 5mm external corners, if I am doing internals then I would bump it up a bit.

The images I posted previously were on 5mm 5083 and I too was making a box but just the base and sides as it was a bait box.

Hm, made some mistakes i have been running my parweld on feed rolls from my esab machine, but the esab uses four rolls and the parweld only two actual rollers with a groove. So i have ordered rollers with a deeper groove. I am also using 4043 1mm wire, so i have had some feeding issues. When i was searching for correct feed rollers i found something on EBay I also have a ESAB C3000i and its now uppgraded a bit Will do some superpulse with it shortly just need to get some argon
