won a pump off ebay 2nd hand £36 get in ... only for it to turn up cracked and spewing oil...my question is can the crack be repaired not sure what metal it is....yes really annoyed parcel company are debating it aswel

don't know about the casing but, if it shorts out the battery it is sitting on, the crack in the casing may not be so much of a concern

been dead 3 years so dont think it will short. anyone heard of durafix? reckon that will work i got some of that lol

It'll be an absolute pita to weld. It's an unknown possibly poor quality to weld. And the cracks will be saturated with oil so will spit and hiss and smoke!

oil can be degreased out or even brake cleaner...i see what you mean by welding it you dont know what else is in with it,thats why i say durafix

I was thinking the opposite to be honest, it's not often you get to repair brand new cast ali. A good degrease and off you go.

Unless you arranged the courier it's the sellers problem not yours, tell them you want a full refund

i arranged it and the seller never used enough packaging so they say its not the best but being cracked like it is takes a fair wack,so they have obviously dropped it.takes the mick i even paid 24hr so it wouldnt get bashed about from lorry to depo ect...3 days later it turned up wownt even give me charge refund absolutlely peed off

I'd be tempted to push them, like you say. Probably not worth while even considering the SCC, but CAB or the like might help. Three days for a 24 hour service should be at least one point they can't contend, and unless it was literally wrapped in just a sheet of paper, people honestly shouldn't be obliged to wrap things up in bunker like fashion just to stop half arsed couriers from killing something.
I'd give them a right old badgering personally Ross. They're probably just palming you off in the hope that you'll drop complaining and not push it any further.
