Not actually welded in yet, but it’s in place. Still a little bit of fettling to do to get the light and rear hatch shut lines a bit better

Don’t get much in the scrap when this is all you take in. £22.20 which included about 10 brake discs and 3 snapped hubs.

I was fed up of doing bodywork so made a start on mounting the new fuel tank. Got the box folded up and then cut the floor out to suit. A bit of strengthening, some brackets underneath and it’s in.

A few more pipes, some electrics and a little bracket to mount the fpr and it can all be stripped out for paint

It was up and running, but then stripped back down for paint.
Inside painted today, will try to get some lacquer on tomorrow or Tuesday so I can refit the inside and getting it running and driving again

trying to spray in there wasn’t much fun, always a bit of the cage exactly where you wanted to get the gun and trying to see what’s been painted and what was missed wasn’t easy

Mainly because I run out of thinners to clean the gun. If I can pick some up local - I’ll do it tomorrow.

That is too long, you will have adhesion issues. Best advice if you want it to last, is to key the basecoat and respray it, leave an hour or so and then lacquer it.

If it was the outside that was exposed and it really mattered I would do, but it’s a race car and it’s only the inside

It’s finally starting to look like a car again. The door is painted as well, once that’s dried I’ll fit it. A few runs on the front wing that I’ll try a nib file on otherwise I will have to rub it down
Just bonnet and bumpers to go and the paint will be done.

I had a front brake failure whilst racing at Mallory park at the weekend and went into the wall at the hairpin.

Good news is that the cage is still straight, and it doesn’t look like any of the chassis rail or suspension pickup points have moved. So should be fairly straight forward to repair

Bad news is I’m very sore and have a couple of minor fractures but will be ok with some rest - no surgery needed.

only on the car great fun racing even better when you win .just a bummer when you have a run of bad luck costs a fortune and a lot of work
