The Burgess style air cleaners are more common here, well i say common, it took me a couple of years to find one at a sensible price for my Petter A1 engine

I gave a nice old Wipac lamp to a friend to use as a period reversing lamp on his old Land Rover.

I won a lawnmower for $1 on an online auction site. No details, just that it needed repair. It wasn’t working properly and there was lots of grass and grease built up inside it. Still, for a dollar, great purchase.
Day two, mower two. $20 on Facebook Marketplace, they said it’s a good one but it’s a lot rustier than mower one and needs a few bits re-making. Still, good bones and importantly, same model as the previous.
The hunt is on for five of these, I can’t be bothered paying top dollar as they’re going to lose their handles and gain towing capacity. I’m planning on making a gang-mower setup!

Beautiful bits of mechanical kit. Pity they’re left to rot.
They're usually left outside, because of the size of them - there was a set here when we moved in, Ransomes iirc. They were retired because one of the hubs had broken, not really a biggy to make a new one, but the village chief elder decided to give them away...
Anyway, they need a certain amount of speed to work well don't they? Are you sure your machine can move them fast enough?

Check the grease in the transfer box's. it goes solid and is a pain to remove.
If it is Tallow based grease any heat and it will stink.

All mowers are dismantled and washed, cleaned, reassembled. Interestingly these have ball bearings not bushes.

It didn’t feel like that. That’s 2 very long days of work and I still haven’t got it fully stripped out. I need to get that bearing out still.

Meccano but bigger. And BSF too! What fun. The MG2 was used as a bomb tractor by the RAF I think. What’s the serial on it @KimB ? Be interesting to know. I think the earliest one is 1936.
