Recommend me a roll cab tool box

Yep, still in daily use, i must have had it 6/7 years now?
Heavily used and most of the drawers over loaded. Drawers don't run as smooth as they would have done when new, i'm sure, but otherwise like new

We have a few small Clarke tool cabinets that sit on top of the welding sets. They get similar sort of abuse and stand up well. I'm pleasantly suprised how good Clarkes tool cabinets are given that Machine Mart sell some right tinny old Clarke rubbish.

I have a "Beach" rollcab Canadian with a very old "snap on" top box
Both at least 20 years old
I was in Costco at the week end they had a good deal on a big roll cab & box for less than £500
It looked to be quality gear

When I said I've seen some right crap made by SGS, it was that exact thing. My cousin bought it and it leaked milky crap everywhere.

The black halfords industrial ones are great, wish I'd kept mine rather than traded them against my snap on unit.

You dont often hear people who own snap on stuff saying anything bad about it (either due to pride, or quality, but either way... ; )

Im wondering what you liked more about the halfords unit?

iff you dont mind me asking what did you pay as it looks a mighty handsome affair...needing to replace my worn out MAC cab soon but not wanting to pay Maccy or snap on money atm

I've seen those blue ones, I vaguely remember them being £500-600. Costco do some good prices on that kind of stuff. I've got a big stainless roll cab and top box 42" wide that I bought on a special about 10 years a go and paid £529

Julian, nothing wrong with my snap on unit, bah maybe the paint finish been as thin as a knats todger.. I was more meaning the halfords unit is a good one, (solid construction, paint was good, drawer bearing runners were actually smoother than my snap on, and it was black!) and would have been good "extra" storage now ive more tools than i can throw a spanner at!

Halfords pro 5 drawer cabinet is 250 quid, but with that you get the top box free at the moment.

I appreciate that's 50 quid more than your budget but the free top box is quite handy, I got the same offer when I got mine and it's a fair bit of storage for the money.

My first toolbox was a Talco 10 draw topbox bought from a catalogue company (Kays or Grattons in the late 70's) and I still have it today, its better quality than the Clarke HD Plus CBB209BGB which is poorly designed and too small/shallow, most good sized screwdrivers have to lie width ways in a wide draw, and its so flimsy it has plastic L shapes to hold the lid square, cause if you pick it up whilst loaded without these plastic parts fitted the whole thing starts to twist and flex and the lid will pop open.

I'd have to say if you want quality go for snap on but at £200 you will find it hard to get entry level KRA second hand, other good quality makes that I have used or mates have include Gedore, Stahlwille, Hazet, Facom, none of them are going to be particularly cheap to buy new but then quality aint cheap.

with rollcabs look for the max. weight each draw can carry and the total amount the wheels can comfortably carry, you will have to allow for the topbox as well

Supposedly carolus have some roller cabinets on promotion in the 'Wanted' catalogue.
Looks like the mechanic trolley is only about £280 (349 euro) which is a massive saving.

You would have to contact a Carolus dealer in the UK and say you want to order off the promotion wanted catalogue to get it at that price though.
