The thing I find strangely amusing is that although the area around the hole has a lot of hammer marks the anvil portion itself has very few.....
74-75 All steel garage combination vice with anvil.
The 74 also had two holes in the casting that you could poke valve stems into..... presumably so you could spin them to check they are straight. But it's mostly the size, a 75 is deceptively large
Fairly certain that's just held in the vice as it was available with the 75 as well which doesn't have the holes.
