Wouldn't worry about a few missing gears, if indeed they are. You can make just about any fit if they're standard tooth pattern.

The bed damage looks like its either had something heavy come out of the chuck or a slender bar gone wild after someone went mad with the stick-out. The rear vee way will never be used by the tail stock but the front one will have the saddle riding on it so needs a look at.

That brass gear he made on the tumbler won't last long. The spindle stud gear looks a bit worn too but it's hard to say without wiping the grease off.

You mean this? If so it's not brass but some kind of fiber or plastic or something like that, supposedly meant for applications like this and to be a sacrificial gear incase something happens that gear will break instead of a metal one.

Similar to the Arboga drills, they usually have a Tufnol gear in them, same with power feeds on mills, usually a plastic gear.

Without being there it is impossible to be certain but from the pics and descriptions I think you have a nice lathe

I can understand that, but it's only money, and there are no pockets in shrouds.

Yeah no budging, eLuSiVeMiTe hit the nail on the head in his last post. I can cover it but I don't like going below a self-set buffer in my bank account so I'll be farting inwards (local saying) for a few months now to build up funds again. I believe before I start using the lathe seriously I'll give it a proper go over, cleanup and the like, maybe even a repaint. Might a whole winter project that.

I look forward to seeing pictures of the cleanup. Looks a nice machine and always like seeing how manufacturers approach things in different ways.

I've enjoyed my rebuild a lot. Learnt an awful lot too. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to using it but I'm anxious to start striping my mill/drill down next and already eying up another old English lathe ripe for a teardown. This time round I'll be better equipped to repair though with a working lathe and mill.
Another plus. I now know my lathe inside and out. Will enable me to setup use and diagnose any issues far better than if I'd just run it as is.

Opened up a door in the wall to the other room I've had as storage, did that last week. Last night I did a majour cleanout, moved the storage shelf and cleared a space for the lathe against the wall.. I will build a nicer door frame so it looks nicer but no real door will be made, I am thinking of those heavy plastic strips that hang down instead to act as dust protection from the woodworking section.

Eventually I will probably move the sheet goods I keep stored against the other to the woodworking section, I am planning to build a sheet goods storage cart that is mounted on a hinge against the wall and hopefully takes very little space. Then I can make more workbenches in the freed up space, or something else... I don't know if I should move in the welding table or not here. It's not good to keep it in the woodworking part of the shop for obvious reasons, but it being near the garage port means I can roll out the table on the concrete outside and weld there.

Thanks, I try to keep it as organized as possible, only way to make things work in my experience, especially in a smaller space.

I'm gonna have to go back to the seller because there's an extra tool cabinet that comes with the lathe, can be seen in the pictures with the 4-jaw chuck and other stuff. Too expensive to add another pallet to ship that along with the lathe.

I don't have any use for it and it was my friend who was interested in it so he will buy it, he's not that good at finding stuff on the net though so I asked around for him.

By the way I was thinking if I need new bearings, surely I shouldn't get the ordinary 30€ type, but precision bearings. However research seems to indicate they can't be found so easily, that is worrisome:
