Any idea on cost and availability? Its a process i have heard off but no experience of seen in real life.

Devcon. Thats the one i came across last year. Was debating repairing to minor pitting on the lathe bed tailstock end with it.It aint cheap, but my employers donates me some when I need it!
Last time I bought anything similar was devcon, from bearing services. i had to sit down at the price. But when needs must!
Wow, someone really used that table for target practise. If it were mine i would be tempted to mill away the centre section and graft a new one on. Then get it surface ground flat to the rest of the table.
Recon it did service as a pillar drill for a while. Why you wouldn't clamp a bit of wood/metal on is beyond me.

Yup my thought exactly. The filling is purely to keep the swarf/oil out.You will probably find most of your milling work will be done in a vice so the condition of the table surface will likely not be an issue.
Excellent idea. Chances are high il end up doing just that.If you do find that you are doing lots of things that could benefit being on the table top then get a lump of tooling plate and make a sub.
I did a small one for the Chiron, purely because normal tools don't reach the table. It was a raised one but yours could bolt direct to the table.
