Similar to rtbcomp I tape my visor with 'tear-offs', placcy transparency sheets meant for overhead projectors, for printing on with a home inkjet. A4 size, nice and clear.
Reckon the shape of yr face makes a difference with the fit of goggles and masks, had stuff in the eye with glasses, so usually wear the visor and glasses both. I bought a not-cheap face mask for spraying but it just doesn't fit well, while others do, but maybe there's something odd with the shape of me 'ead.....

Now that looks like a real pro's bit of kit! Integral Helmet as well to protect my solar panel.
It's only missing the ear-defenders and a teasmaid.

;wee update, - been back to the eye dept in the hospital today to get the other half of the metal out, turns out it had turned into a rust ring, after a couple of hours wait i was called into the room and gived the numbing eyedrops, sat on the big special chair with my chin on a machine someone began picking at my eye with another syringe type thing 
, it was agony, i could feel my eye piercing with it and moving around while the pressure was on it
, turns out that because its been a week since it happened, my eye has formed a skin around it and it was quite deep in, it needed 3 doctors to get the remaining pieces out because the first two werent confedent with their trys, so you could imagine how bad i thought it was!, anyway its out now and ive got big visible gashes and scratches in my eye and now that the anasthetic is wearing off im in quite abit of pain oh and i have to put this really thick cream in my eyelid 4 times a day which is really stingy, then its even worse when it slaps off the eye,
so please everybody when youre using a drill or grinding or anything else dangerous for that matter, have a quick think to yourself "am i wearing adequit safety gear" and if the answers no then go and get some, i wouldent reccomend the pain

Very sorry to hear they've gone and done that to you. Sounds an awful lot like what they did to me (actually they decided mine wasn't healing and they scraped a whole load of skin off the eye).
Get off the computer and rest it. It will sill strain in the light while you have anesthetic in. You might find you are up for a few nights in a fair bit of pain. Darkened room and good radio are the thing. World service is quite good, and Radio 4 has an interesting sounding play Saturday afternoon. Hope to see you back before too long.

Who ever designed that stuff that you have to put in your eye should be shot! 
There are very simple sounding instructions to put 1/4" in your bottom eyelid without touching the nozzle to your flesh. Well whoever wrote that clearly hasn't tried to get 1/4" of stuff with the consistency of silicone sealant to come off the end of a nozzle without either touching the inside of your eyelid or poking your eye out. 
I resorted to squeezing the requisite amount out and slicing it off the end with the point of a cocktail stick. Once it's dangling on the end of there it's much easier to drop into your eyelid. Not a pleasant experience all round. The first set of anaesthetic drops didn't work on me so the nurse enquired 'Oh. Can you feel that?' when I recoiled howling in pain after she'd stuck a needle in my eye. 'No S***' I replied!

its a 3m helmet, its one that has been in work for year. would imagine its scary money, however i have only ever used it once (ages ago watching someone tig). Really heavy thing compared to my own helmet, to the point that it would hurt my neck very quickly. ill see if i can find out more info here, but im sure one of the pros will know exactly what it is
edit: it also has/had a built in respiration system

Some of the more expensive autos have a grinding feature which keeps the lense from darkening when grinding. Never used one myself so don't know if they are any good.
