Sort of slightly off topic, I bought a pair of safety trainer style boots from Lidl
Ten days of walking around 12000 steps on average a day and I love them
I guess what I am trying to say is sometimes cheap boots are not poor quality boots.

My Mum came home one day with a pair of size 14 safety boots for me she'd found in a charity shop. This was just as she was starting her dementia. I told her I was a size 12.

Totally unphased she said "Well they'll fit somebody!"

So first set of hoggs zeus dealer boots.
Took a week to bed in. Was uncomfortable but thought may last if that's the case.

Well 4months later they let go and all the sole falls off. Well that sucks.
Kept getting wet feet.
Had to get another pair as all they had in stock,

Will have to see how long this set lasts.

Me too which does limit choice, I also find on a lot of safety boots the steel toe cap rubs the side of my big toe causing quite large calluses (Spelling?)

Well the DeWalt riggers I got the refund on...have finally given up the ghost. You can see now, how once the rubber has split etc, how it's not leather all the way across the heel.

I could likely cut a leather patch (from another old crap pair of DeWalts) and stitch it on but can't see how I'd join it at the sole.

Sat with a scalpel and cut the stitching holding the disintegrated rubber patch onto the heel.

Irrespective that I got a refund, I am really disgusted by this pi$$ poor offering from DeWalt. I'd really have expected better quality than this. The boots rendered scrap by design. The leather should have gone right round the heel:

Dewalt Bolster boots, bought September 2023. Well kept, polished etc:

I just took them back:

Screwfix "We can only refund against another pair of boots bought from us!"

I took a look at the display and said "Yes but most are DeWalt again that are clearly **** or your own Site brand. Tbh the whole lot look like lightweight, toytown trainers. Don't worry, I'll take them back and contact your head office".

"Hang on a minute, we don't want it said we didn't do everything to help" said the girl and went off somewhere.

Next thing, full refund on my card.

I might add the toe of the DeWalt's sole is also peeling off.

I'm now back in a pair of Tomcats bought from RS years ago. So uncomfortable from the off I put them away and got something else. Hoping these will break in before my feet give up. All leather, no fancy rubber bits etc. Stitched sole too which is rare now!

ive had the site trainer type for over a year and thrown every thing at them the worn well only reason ive given them up is my foots got slighly bigger and i could do with a size 13 with thick socks on and the side of the heal was so warn it was making me ankles hurt

I remember the ‘Tuff’(?) boots that had 6 month(?) guarantees, back in the ‘50/60s.

They may not have done three working shifts (at the brickworks) each day, but almost certainly every other shift (can’t remember if they worked a 8 or 12 hour shifts). Likely changed at the bus stop, so worn continuously.

Users were mainly Italian ex PoWs, bussed in from the nearest large town. They lived in multi-family houses (while saving up to buy up the whole street, in double-quick time). Those fellas worked hard and soon saved enough to buy their own houses.

A totally different ethic to the indigenous community, who just moaned about it for years after it happened.

I had a pair of Tuf Big T tan leather boots when I was a teen on the log round they lasted years and I never saw any for sale again.
