Ok shaft back from machine shop. Tidy bit of work too assembled with a tapered bush rather than a grub screw at 90 to the keyway

The top geared roller comes out so you don't mangle your work in removal as you see above. Here it is in use

Ok just a bit of scrap but waste not it just worked out of potential use as a bottle strap for my portable O2

So still awaiting an invoice from the machinist. Yet my time I see as free as its my company and my asset and all the bits Like nuts n bolts, washers, paint etc are in the expenses column of the accounts and I recon its been worthwhile should at the end of the day stand as total expenditure at £500 ish and I don't think you could buy one new for less than £1500 and I doub anyone will be fixing up a modern import in another 80 odd years.

Don't know If I should push it past 5mm as the gears work further apart as you increase the material size, perhaps if I took it slow on smaller bits I might go 6mm on M/S and a tad more if it was ali

That's the idea anyhow, thing is stuff like this in good working order can only increase in value. Literally nobody makes them like that anymore.

very worthwhile project and should soon pay for itself...ime liking the fact you can remove the top roller which makes it an easier job to do a 360 without the flat tang at the end

Made for the old stuff like wired and rolled edge finishes, rolled duct etc.
