Sherman Tig (Jasic in disguise?)

Just looked at the tracking for my Sherman, it was supposed to be delivered on Thursday, now it is saying Tuesday

Mines still saying Thursday, now in the country with UPS at Stanford Le Hope.

Won't be doing much with it for a while I'm afraid. Too many other projects on at the moment. First likely use is going to be a bit if MMA welding on some shipping containers and possibly some mods to my chain harrows.

That’s where mine is also! That company must be wondering what the hell is going on! Suddenly getting 4-5 orders from the uk around the same day!

I've never tried AC tig (current tig is an ESAB Caddy 2200i DC), but thought no problem there'll be loads of videos on YouTube for the Jasic 200P/Sherman 206P, so I could learn about the welder settings and specific AC features.

Well there weren't - but there are a lot for the Razer 200, which I believe is also basically the same unit.

That Razor 200 looks like another Jasic clone....I wonder how many there are in the various different markets. So basically they make em in bulk in china....then they partner with local suppliers. Makes sense I guess...if nobody in the market will buy Jasic because it's not known....then just sell thro a rebrand!

Whats interesting is the razor weld machine actually carries a Jasic logo on the side in tiny font.

Yup...end of the day it's a £500 welder so I'm sure there will be some short cuts somewhere....and even if they are identical the 5 year warranty explains the price difference.

For me I was never going to stump up £1300 to "have a go" at TIG....this way I get to give it a go.

If I like it I can upgrade the machine...I reckon 10 years of hobby use = 6 months of professional use so fingers crossed it'll last a while.

I think I mentioned earlier in the thread, Razer are the U.S, AUS and NZ arm of Jasic so they are rebranded but if you look on their website all the contact details are Jasic. I think the price is quite similar to Jasic.

I think it's also branded Jasic on the side of the machine....unlike the Sherman. The manual for the Razor seems very good too I think.

So my pedal connection was broken before I had even plugged it in, seems its a bit crappy. I've emailed them and already had a replay, I'm going to send the pedal back for a refund and just use the torch (they are covering the postage )

I can get the Jasics mini for around 1000

...with a 5 year warranty for professional/industrial use that's a bargain.

I'm hoping there is enough of that robust design still left in the Sherman...if the Sherman can keep running long enough to let me learn TIG I'll be a happy man...then if I upgrade to the Jasic I'll be on the same controls (was also a selling point).

Seems they sell it a lot under different brands....came across another one while I was searching for manuals and info...looks quite nice in black I reckon (might have to give the Sherman a makeover )

Well I got an email from UPS saying my parcel will be delivered tomorrow
Bad news is when I checked the tracking it s not the Sherman, it is still in Germany

How do the Stahlwerk welders fit in, are they related to the Jasic/Sherman ? They are very popular in Germany, but are of course Chinese made. They have a new one now that will take a pedal, the older ones could not.

There is cheap and cheap but I nah not for me . This Sherman sale explosion was it appears its the same as Jasic. You have to draw the line somewhere and that's mine. I just picked up the new Parweld XTT212 for 750 with no quibble 3 year warranty i meant why buy from Germany when you have welders like this

Well they are both made in China (Shenzhen), and the Shermans are being bought out of Poland, so not much difference there, the Stahlwerks are slightly more expensive, the Stahlwerks have a 7 year warranty, so they are much of a muchness in my eyes.

Having the same menu setup as the Jasic was a big plus for the Sherman in my view. And seeing how many they are selling (under all the different rebrands...maybe half a dozen across various markets?) ....to me that says that it's a fairly descent machine underneath.

I have the older Stahlwerk AC/DC, they are very big compared to the newer IGBT tech coming out of china. The Stalwerk i have is roughly the same design as the first cheap china AC/DC machines(WSE-200) The newer IGBT machines are much better designed, even the new Cheap migs are designed well. Ill bet that Sherman is exactly the same as the Jasic down to the components.

Also noticed the Eastwood tig welder looks the same as the Sherman 200 ac dc machine for half the price .

Bbe555....woyld be good if you or one of the experienced TIG guys could arrange to have a go on the Sherman to give it a once over I reckon. Most of us buying them are noobs (well I am with TIG) ....so from my point of view if it lays down anything that doesn't look like it came out of the rear of a pigeon I'd be very happy
