I dunno but I've got a Ral chart so if someone wants to send me a Jasic I'll try and match it up.does anyone know the ral number of Jasic orange?
It comes with a box of consumables which I think includes a short tungsten.Presumably none of these Sherman’s are supplied with a regulator? I’m thinking I will need to get one, and maybe some other bits like tungsten, cups, flow meter etc. Anyone got a shopping list to get it up and running?
Thanks David - That is extremely helpful. I’ll trawl back through the pages for your other info on plugs etcIt comes with a box of consumables which I think includes a short tungsten.
It also comes with a barbed 21 female fitting to fit the male on the back of the machine.
So, assuming you've PPE (though would defo recommend thin TIG gloves):
- Argon
- Regulator and hose (think fitting barb is 5-6mm)
- Some practice metal and a pack of filler rods maybe
- Schuko adapter or mains plug of your choosing. I've got a 16a pce commando on but I think others are happily running them on 13a
It would probably be worth getting some tungstens too, as the provided one wouldn't last long if you're as bad as me
I got some cheapo gas lens type fittings/collets etc - kits on Amazon etc can be a cheap way of picking them up with various ceramics etc, but there's certainly enough to build the torch up supplied with the machine.
Several of us have found the torch wasn't quite to our liking; for me it was the switch, for others it was the fixed neck etc.
I found a smaller torch was nicer with one of them clip on switches. Have a WP9F (smaller, different consumables) and WP17 (smaller but same consumables as supplied torch). Latter was Kennedy from zoro, and the WP9F - no name off eBay. Both very nice compared to supplied WP26.
If you're getting a new torch, you'll want 35-50 dinse, and m10 for the gas connector, and the XS12 5 pin plug. You'll likely need to source your own m10 and 5 pin plug as they do not seem common in the world of TIG.
I posted a series of links many pages back for plugs, connectors etc and will dig it out if you wish.
Just had a tracking link sent from Greyeagle. Not sure how long a delivery takes from Poland, a few days I would think. I sent them an email the other day asking for an estimated delivery date, and got a response today - not automated, a nice personalised reply saying that they were shipping as soon as possible, and it was quickly followed by the shipping confirmation. I guess they were having to wait for their own supplier.
I'm afraid not and I did look. I'd be interested too.Regarding the plugs, I ordered in May and they were supposed to be delivered mid July but the tracking disappeared last week and had to get a refund from Amazon. That was painless enough but now I need to find a better source, anyone know of any UK stockists?
Do it!!!! Do it!!!!I've been keeping track of this thread because I'm interested in getting one. I'm a bit lost though!
Would someone mind posting a summary of what's what please?
I'm adrift with what's doing with the pedal - can it be used for amp control with the modifications? Also, what's the deal with the "hidden menu" - what can be unlocked?
Cheers,
Fro
Thanks for the offer, at the moment I don't need any, just handy to have as spares. Will probably just reorder and hopefully will get this time.I'm afraid not and I did look. I'd be interested too.
I also ordered another 5 pack (24th May) and they arrived just a day or two ago. I must admit, I didn't keep track of them on Amazon (I'd forgot!)
I'd be tempted to reorder from them as a safety net, knowing at least Amazon will refund if it goes belly up.
This said, I am unlikely to use them all - how many do you need?
very tempted to get one for site work, save lugging the castotig 2002 out of the workshop

Yes, the thread has got huge. There's a lot of useful info, though sadly a number of posts do seem to have been deleted. It'd be worth refactoring the key bits into a wiki somewhere
The pedal can be used without modifications. As supplied, however, the plug make up is a bit dodgy. Some members (myself included) have rewired it - this is purely to fit a new plug with strain relief (which requires the replacement of a 2c and 3c cable with a single 5c cable). The issue with amp control is that the display doesn't update to show pedal current, except when the arc is actually struck/in progress. What may have led to some confusion is that @Altintas is doing an interesting side project to try to retrofit digital torch control to the Sherman (and UK Jasics, by the sounds of it) - @Hood , I think, noticed that the buttons on a torch did not work. The manual was a bit weasel wordy, but what it actually appears to mean is that there are two variants - one that supports analogue control via the socket (plus on/off), and one that supports digital control via the socket. The Sherman (and UK Jasics, it appears) support only analogue control via the socket.
The hidden menu unlocks a series of settings, the most useful of which appears to be HF start on/off - https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/sherman-tig-jasic-in-disguise.93719/page-51#post-1631563
