UK Equivalent would be R-Tech; Everlast not (as far as I know) not distributed in the UK.

(And R-Tech and Everlast do indeed go back a long way; same supply chain but slightly different components.)

Yesterday i was having a look for a TIG torch and got lost, litteraly lost, with all those numbers not following any specific order !!!!

I ended up on youtube watching TFS, The Fabrication Series, where Justin explains correctly and clearly what are those differences.

Quick question, which might have been already asked here but the thread is too long, for learning AL welding the stock torch is good enough ?

AC welding creates a lot of heat so a big 26 torch that comes supplied is very suitable. Smaller torches don't cope with the heat so well. The only trouble is that it is not a flexible head which makes some joints awkward. Fine for starting some runs on plate though.

I swapped mine out for a flexy head. Cost about 11 quid.

"stock" wp17 and wp26 torches are fine for aluminium, you'll know when you overdo it because the torch will get too hot to hold

a 17 torch will heat up far faster than a 26 though. I personally don't see the point in a 17, because a 26 torch is barely any bigger but handles heat far better.

The first thing I did with the standard torch that came with the Sherman was to put a flexi head on it, I still found it was not that nice because of the trigger button, it is far too sensitive and can be switched, both on and off, far to easily for my liking. It is I suppose something you would get used to or if not having used Tig before I suppose you wouldn't know any different so wouldn't notice.

One was a quick lashup intended as a temporary cooler but has been that way for a few years

a simple basic waterpump is enough ?

I use the proper things, a procon and the other type that I can't recall the name of but it begins with a C (and has more than 4 letters )

A few have used the Chinese 12v ones with good success, I actually tried one at first but didn't seem to get the flow but even the procon doesn't give much more so it must be the restrictive nature of my torch.

I use mine occasionally for pumping out awkward bits in boats, it has stood up ok but gets very little use. I think I would rather spend £150 and get the right thing though.

It should as long as the electronic switch fits inside it and still works with the button on the outside of the torch. (Which it should do as the switch is very small)

It should do but means you will have to solder wires for the trigger, much easier just buying a flexi head and fitting that.
