I wouldn't powder coat it, paint rules! Colour is very subjective, but blue can be nice.

Heres the new baby, its pretty good condition, shud i keep it red , and shud i powder coat it ?

Imo the paint looks sound and should clean up with a wash of turps. A good reason to repaint is shot paint, weld spatter which needs grinding off, a really horrible repaint or a vice which is completely seized. I’m totally in favour of repainting but only when necessary

No offence to those who treat their vice with a lick of paint etc but to be honest mine is the one bit of kit that gets welded on, beaten to the limit and the handle has more curves than Sam Fox.
I just wouldn’t be able to abuse it like I do if it was all shiny and sparky looking.

With all the curves on that york it would look nice in bare metal with a good coat of graphite wax.

This little jewel arrived yesterday, and I must say I am impressed; it is beautifully machined. The V-ways are a very close fit without any noticeable wobble in the movable jaw, and the rotating base and ball assembly operates as smooth as glass. It appears to be European and resembles some German vices I've seen.
I've had my Wilton baby bullet vise since long before it became a collectable icon, and prices shot up to the ridiculous amount they cost now. I can confidently say this little vice is superior to the Wilton. Its jaws are 1 5/8" wide, and opens to about the same. Here are a couple of photos.
