Most definitely worth a tenner. You've got a good deal there. Nice vices are the York's.

Not heard of a York vice before, I'll keep my eyes open for one at an autojumble in the future.

Solid little vices. Made in Czechoslovakia, if I recall correctly. They're what the Wilton bullet vices were based on. In true Blue Peter mode, here's a couple I did earlier.



Top one is a 60. Bottom one is an 80.

That little pin you can see at the bottom of the front jaw is the leadscrew retainer. Knock that out and you can remove the 'screw. A piece of thin dowel through the body will let you knock the end cap out, and the nut is retained by another pin through the rear of the body. Knock that pin out, which goes all the way through the body, top to bottom. You can see both pins in the photo's.

Try & mark the nut so that you know which side is top, btw. If they go back in the opposite way round, it can sometimes cause their action to be a bit stiff, so best to put it back the same orientation it came out.

Is it the 4 1/2" multi purpose vice with offset jaws, which I lost the bid on ?
I've got a little friend to keep the vise in my avatar company arriving next week also.
