In the first picture with spring compressed the screw is pushing the handle away from the jaw. Something is fouling the sliding action of the jaw. I imagine it only sticks at certain points of the opening and closing. Can you post pics of the vice from the top and each side with the jaws opened and closed?

All sorted now Craig I just knocked the rear pin out worked the screw a few times to seat everything and hey presto all good

I adapted this today.
It looked sad, unloved.




Found in the bottom of a box of "odds n sods."
A quick play showed it was not moving.

I got it home, a bit of force and it all moved.
So now it will be added to the pile of bits to do.

Like many have done here, made some aluminum jaws for the Record 6 to avoid marking work and replaced the odd assortment of fasteners for shiney 5/16 UNC allen.
Looking to make for the Parkinson also, may go M8 as the tread is in the jaw and would save having to get 5/16 taps never to be used again?

Been working away way too much lately. Finally got some time this week to chill. decided to ease myself back into the man cave and spruce up a 52d that’s been laying around for years. It was totally seized up. Stripped, rust removed, painted and rebuilt. All works well now, just need to decided where to fit it.

Well, strictly speaking it's no longer mine and I never found the bench space for it but here's my bench vice, now sold.

Sort of boxed in rather than boxed up.

But it's firmly bolted to a half pallet and had a couple of polyrope handles which wrap under the base with hose to stp it cutting your fingers off.

It can also sit upright to go on a sack barrow.

At 80kg it is both bigger and heavier than the anvil behind...

Now I just need to work out how to ship it without it costing an arm and a leg.

Thanks, it did sell quite quickly - to Croatia! Shipping was enormous and I could easily have been scammed so I turned it down and forgot all about it. Its staying in the UK.

If you sell internationally via Ebay, they have this global shipping program, where you only have to pay a local rate for shipping it to a center in the UK who then forward it on out of the country at no additional cost to you.

I've only used it once, and for a small item; but it worked out great when I used it.

Thanks. Yes, 30kg limit though. eBay calculate the actual shipping cost and from the UK centre to the buyer. Looks like it reduces the possibility of being scammed where the seller would be responsible for the cost of return shipping in the event of a dispute but that's a situation of eBay's own making. What do we call it when you pay a company to resolve a problem they have created themselves? Oh yeah, Racketeering!

Ebay's Global Shipping Program is a rip-off. Their partners-in-crime, Pitney Bowes, do very well out of it.

Ah wasn’t sure how long it would take to sell it’s a nice big vice I have a columbian 206 on a swivel i can imagine the shipping at least she stayed in the UK

July 3rd 2019 I got a unloved Record Imp. No. 80, look above.




As I got it.
It was made to move, with heat, oil and a "Gentle tap" with a hammer.
It was free to a point then the screw would jam.



GPO Red, as I had some left, Gold leaf. The Screw boss looks un cleaned in this shot. But it was cleaned up.





Finished.
Nice smothe action, the clamping screw did not really come straight. But it works better than when I got it.

This Vice will be called John, in memory of a good man.




No Makers stamp I can see. The action is still. But should free up.


Little or no use on the anvil.

Odd, there is no screw guard.






The only identification mark.

Any vice experts able to shine a light on the makers.

This vice I may spend £££££ on it. I may even try and get a transfer sticker for it.
