Working from memory, as it's not oft I play with Record's, if it's the type with a fully open bottom end on the rear of slide, just wind the slide out via the screw then pull it out. If the rear of the slide is the enclosed type or with the hanger which supports the rear end of the screw, you'll want to tap the pin out from underneath which holds the leadscrew nut in place, and then work the nut out of its slot and then slide the slide out. Bear in mind my memory is crap though.

Finally managed to get that Fortis cleaned up and reassembled. Whomever designed the spring setup for the quick release on those was a sadist. Got tired of losing little slivers of flesh trying to get that refitted, so ended up modifying that side of things slightly to lessen the spring tension a bit. She's rust free now and works a lot more smoothly than she did. Still rough as a badgers ****, but at least it's derusted and tidied up somewhat.

Another York, in a more traditional finish.
That was yet another Friday afternoon production special, judging from some of the weird problems it had. Jaw insert screw holes which weren't tapped deeply enough for the screws to seat fully, a cracked swivel base plate which also has domed surfaces due to being over tightened due to their being a ding on the base which stopped things seating properly, and that appears as if it may have happened at the factory etc.

The tempting ones almost always seem to be absolutely miles away, don't they. Saying that though, it could be a good thing. Think how much stuff we'd cram into the workshops if everything we liked was close by. Make sure to post photo's of the Record when it turns up.
