Wish you hadn't mentioned that. I started a reading marathon last night realizing there are 207 pages here. After about half a dozen I decided to just fast forward through the pictures and comment or so for each; up to page 26 so far, but more enjoyable than watching television...........................I've been going back through this thread, some fascinating stuff on here for a vice obsessive !...………..

Vono said i just want one big vice (honestly it'll just be one..) & then hopefully I can do as you sensibly suggest by just buying smaller less space consuming smaller ones.
It doesn't work that way. It's like the heroin addict saying just one more fix, then I'll stop, get clean and get a job. There will always be one more that you have to have, and you can't get rid of he others it would be like deciding which of your children to give away.

Fortis & Ajax are rough as a bears jacksy compared to other brands.
Gotta love a Workmate. Got mine from a carboot for £3 about 15 years ago and its been well used every since. During lock down I replaced springs and got new jaws for it so its better than new.Nowt much to do today as weather is junk (fence panel just broke )
So here's gratuitous shot of my Record auto vice & also a little Record Imp. I attached these to one of my B&D Workmate's (they were a fleeting obsession too).
A great versatile asset to have, and with a swivel top, makes for a fine target shooting bench also.Gotta love a Workmate. I'm not sure of the number, I bought it several years ago at a charity shop here in the UK. Unlike the one I brought from overseas, the one in the photo has aluminium cross braces. Are you making toffee??
Looks like an old Workmate, could it be the 625? I hadn't realise how collectable they have become. Mine is/was a 625 made in Ireland, apparently now devalued because the jaws are now not original.
