I acquired the engraving vice overseas many years ago. The roadrunner practice piece took about 15 hours of work over a period of couple of weeks.
Nice new post over on ukworkshop.co.uk on an unusual Rededa (?) patented QR WW vice.
anyone seen that vice before?
by 'ming' headed Rededa vice enquiry
you've been spoiled by that fractalPopped over to have a look and it looks like a boring ordinary wood vice.
I want to see fractal jaws!
Got my silly thinking (bit drunk) head on, what if you had the jaws laser cut, not expensive, material would cost more, need dxf files, maybe available, then machining the chamfers in them, not easy...
Who was it @gaz1 or @Screwdriver , can't remember...
Got any Dxf files?
Curious , another crazy idea type thing...

I"m not even sure how you'd machine a (matching!) dovetail around a 5mm radius.
This was in my phone's newsfeed on Monday https://www.thisiscolossal.com/2021/07/steve-lindsay-fractal-vise/Popped over to have a look and it looks like a boring ordinary wood vice.

Good news.Ok, newbie first timer earlier today, asking daft vice questions.... so here are the 3 vices I blathered about.
(As seems to be the protocol, Tea Mug included for Scale )
1. Paramo No4 (the clean one)
2. Record No35P (the rusty one)
3. Parkinson's No9 (the hernia-inducing one)

Thank you! I need all the help I can get! (The Bench Grinder is a cheapie bought maybe 20-years-ago, so I'll not begrudge it a switch if it falls over ).Good news.
Keep the shiny one.
I will care for, clean, paint and let roam free in vice garden the other 2.
Simplz.
The Parkinson, look for MOD, WD or GPO stamps.
The fixings are Whit, but UNC can be easily got to replace the broken ones.
The Record one, will make you say some bad words, when you remove the jaws. The screw slots are an odd size. But a decent impact screwdriver bit, dressed on a stone. Making it a snug fit will have them out. Oil and heat will help.
Oh yes, your bench grinder
If it stops working, the switch is double pole and one side will fail.
Have a nice day.
I took the advice of various members of this site and had ago myself. Considering the vice was half buried on an allotment for a couple of years to my knowledge, it was quite easy to do once the screw was free. I used a wire brush on my old drill to clean it up, all the screws except one came out and were reused. It feels quite smooth when tightening and the qr is precise. The handle is a bit bent but l,ll keep it like that, l don,t think l,ll ever use it so it won,t matter.I have been given an old samsonia perfect vise that is rusted up and seized solid. l have been looking through utube for info. how to free it when l found a link to this website and l was really surprised to find so many people renovating old vices. I have come to the conclusion that I could never make anything of it I have no engineering skills at all, I was a truck driver all my life so only basic mechanics and stuff learned at school. If anyone wants this vice let me know through this web page. I live in Worcestershire. The lettering on it says no. 38A model j samsonia perfect vise.
From B&Q? They were made by B&D.Bench Grinder is a cheapie bought maybe 20-years-ago
I look after all un wanted or unloved tools.oxo and grw - nice vices - especially the no9 and the samsonia
let ardvark look after your grinder, as he seems an expert - I'd be happy to tend to the no 9 (and save you from that hernia)
