It’s 150kg dead so just over a 7th of a ton
I’m going to be sending out raw castings to them mainly but I reckon I’ll make the screw and thread mill the nut so it’s machinable for someone with a shaper and Bridgeport

Are they going to collectors or do some of the Yanks actually have a need/requirement for them in their work?

Don’t know, don’t care. Vice collectors are all mad
English enquires want a useable vice. I’m fitting my one with copper jaws for hydraulic work

Spent a lazy day sorting out what to put where in the current limited space I have in the garage, so started by organizing the "metal" working bench vises / vices I've acquired over time. Sixteen in the photo, but I believe there are a couple more; somewhere. There are a few wood working ones, but that will be for another day. Its amazing what one can accumulate, even if you are "not" a collector, lol. I am going to have a think about what I will realistically need, and then find new homes for the remainder.

The red one looks like a Versa-Vise. There are far-Eastern copies around, like the parrot vice MattF mentions.

Its a vintage Columbian Gyro Vise, like the current Parrot offerings but much better in quality. These were and still are popular with the gunsmithing trade.

I saw this little fella, he was only £13.50, I couldn't just leave him in there..

Hi, not sure what you mean but if it's the big record pipe vice in the background that was ebay (got lucky it was pretty cheap), the Vono bedstead spanner was a £1.00 in a junk shop.

I got it off of ebay. The base is identical to the power arm base that was made for the Wilton baby bullet vises. I wasn't able to get a close up of the badge on the base, but it is marked as a " Spnklin Mini Clamp ". The parallel jaw plier appears to be an add on that was welded to a nut. Here is a better photo.

Yes, " Speetog Plier Clamp ". I had to look with a magnifier as the stamping on it is very faint. Also states made in England, and shows patent numbers.

I've been using the Parrot vice for several years, it's a good serviceable vice. I use it when working on guitars mainly as it holds the neck both horizontally and vertically. I use two pieces of leather covered plywood with slightly curved backs to help in holding uneven surfaces. I have a more bespoke guitar vice but this one is possibly more useful.

There was an offset accessory available for these vises which allowed for tilting the vise in a fore or aft position. Google Columbian Gyro Vise and have a look in "Images". If needed, one could be made without too much difficulty.

So that was the 'teaser' last week - let's see the specs and whole vise now - I'm sure you've got at least a prototype.

Good for you, making this - I bet it will be liked in USA - I hope your name will be on the finished product. I'm guessing not just collectors, but also users, even if it costs a few bucks (!).

You've put out the 'teaser' here - have you done the same for the enthusiasts on the garagejournal.com vice showthread?- I think they'd be interested (understatement).
