I see a Record 23, another Record that looks like it's a 23 or bigger and a case of Guinness Good man
To ward off evil spirits.BTW, why the candle?
Acid dipped and cleaned. Then sealed with a brush on clear wax.
is it rust ?It could be the leadscrew which is bent or damaged, or it may just be a burr or ridge on the slide. The spring may be weak or damaged, leading to those few loose turns. Best off posting some photo's of it.
is it rust ?
I recently took the same vice apart, this is caused by the nut being loose so when you turn the handle, the nut moves over before the jaw moves. With it upside down, the nut can be seen through the rectangular hole, if you wind the handle, you'll see the nut move, then the jaw will move. Also it doesn't react for a few turns when I change direction, where ever it is. Could that mean something is worn or broken?
I noticed the turning bar comes away from the casing when I turn to open the vice, I guess that suggests a worn spring?
