Cwazy has an 8" (vice.......)

3" 10PB is not in any of my Record catalogues.
This will be another reason for me to visit the Hawley collection in Sheffield which I plan to do maybe end of June.
I'm so busy in the next months - but I will try to plan this.
This is a snip of part of one page of the Hawley collection data for C J Hampton/Record. (response from Hawley to my enquiries).
There's 1 1/2 pages of catalogues and >1 page of photographs.
I have to book a 2-3 day visit and hotel and go through each catalogue and see what I can scan.... Let's see.
They also have loads of catalogues etc on Parkinson, Rededa, Woden, Paramo - but nothing on Fortis... which are my favourites.

And raises another question - what was the smallest quick release bench vice anyone made?

I would guess Rededa's 6in was the smallest woodwork QR, I have a QR Vono bench vice with 3in Jaws, but fairly massively built.

Ta for the pics of the bigger Leaders StevieO, I like these they're very "different" to other vices.

That catalogue stuff looks cool, looking forward to any information you may post regarding it - that kind of info' is just "gold dust" it really is.

As to erm not buying more vices .., well I meant it when I said it..

There was a salesmans sample of a Parkinsons Vise with working quick release, would've been something like a 1 inch jaw.

I know this is a 'bench' vice thread, but I welcome the woodworking vices (after all, they fit right on or even into, the bench). Many vice innovations started with woodworking types.

It's great to have, and compare, the three old version Parky types from Parky, Woden and Record - did you have to search hard to get them?

I guess Dawn didn't make an equivalent but started with the round bars and webbed casting.

Woodworking vices are bench fitted too. No-one ever said this thread is for engineering vices alone. Any vice is fair game for this thread.

Yes, Australian made up until the 90’s, now I believe manufactured in China.

Always on the lookout for rusty old relics to restore on the weekends. An interest born from Covid lock downs in Victoria, and now a passion.

That's right MattF. The president has also included vices on a bench, and not necessarily attached to the bench.

Really enjoy reading this thread and seeing some of the quirky vices on show. A quick few photos of my smallish collection, a few still tucked away here and there. Just moved in last week and a couple of nice vices left behind.

We have a samsonia model 38J as the main vice. Acquired a couple of years ago for £20. Still to be bolted to the bench or a stand. Believe it to be steel as significantly lighter than expected.

Have the record 23 left behind. In a bit of a sorry state, coated in rust, front jaw cracked and then the jaw face welded on, will become the welding vide. Currently drowned in oil to slow the rusting.

Then onto woodworking vices, we have a nice little whitmore. Attached to a small bench when I was little by my grandad.

Not shown, my dad's record 24 to be inherited one day, a nice paramo square bar woodworking vice still in storage. Numerous dodgy drill vices of no particular value and a small Aldi special multi swivel bench vice.

Nice to see those vice.

Although I am deeply concerned about the skateboard and whether a mobile bench vice service is something you are considering
