Is that a saw setting clamp/vice?
Nice saw sharpening vice.View attachment 350127
This was aquired today.
£10.
It does open, but is very stiff.
It will get a lot of TLC soon.
Yes it is.Nice saw sharpening vice.
My latest purchase turned up today German in origin i think
has a some very unusual design features which should help to identify it as this one has no markings as i can see
there is grey and black remnants of colour, 4.5 inch jaw and im guessing around 15 kg
Has a similar piggy nose similar to another east german vice i have
i have never seen this before, semi circle retaining jaw plates, the screws are completely undamaged due to this design
slots to put in a captive nut where it would be bolted up through the bench
split washer for rear of spindle as well as a retaining pin
speaking of colours, my research has identified that my latest German vice originally had orange paint, i noticed a few bits of orange paint on all sides of mine so it does appear to have been originally orange
not sure i could paint a vice orange, i might get ridiculed on this site
photo taken off youtube, someone in Germany has the same vice albeit larger, and doesnt know the manufacturer either!
I had one of them.
Saw sharpening is quite enjoyable. Beats watching rubbish television programs.
" Ours " ? You mean you'd share ?But not ours.
Yet.
The reversible jaw is a nice feature. It is. There is a small "apprentice mark" on the side of the moving jaw, but I can live with that.
Yes. I would." Ours " ? You mean you'd share ?
