the chamber pot is/was called the po' in much of England, especially the north (pronounced quite like the River Po)
... so in this case (like Po in northern Italy) this could be from porcelain rather than poo, or what were these things made of in those days in the general population?
Whereas, the common people might have continued to have wooden buckets and half-jokingly used the term for the porcelain bowls of the upper classes ...
