The earliest catalogue I have with a Woden vice in it is a 1953 but that one, unlike yours has the new style 'knob'. So I think we can reasonably safely say it is prior to 1953. Woden have been getting patents for vice improvements since 1907 so I would guess your vice has to fall between the turn of the century and the early 50's.
Not a lot of help I suppose.

Judging from the teeth on the jaw faces that vice has hardly ever been used. Only you can decide if you want to keep it that way It'll never be worth a fortune, but it is an antique ....

Fortis - swivelling jaw vices

I'd never seen one of these until I saw a post on another forum. One came up on Gumtree a couple of weeks ago locally (in Highland terms...... 100 miles) which a friend's father was kind enough to collect - he was so impressed, it nearly didn't continue its journey. Very good condition, 4 1/2 inch jaws.

Then, to my surprise, another appeared on Gumtree a week later in Inverness - rusty, but looked OK. My friend tried to get it for his father - but was just too late. I'm sure this was total coincidence!

Mine is mounted on its bench, but yet to be used in anger........

I have a facom steel vice how much are the worth ? 125 mm no quick release, fine thread, needs lots of turns to open fully

I can assure you that is not out of hand .... yet

I had a bit of a tidy up in the workshop this week (you wouldn't think it though) so I could get stuff done and I've discovered several vices I forgot I owned :-/

if it wss restored then yes the correct period fixings would be nicer, but they have just have a clean up and got into a working condition

There's a rather odd looking Record vice on Ebay now :

Note pipe jaws cast into the body on one side only. Almost as if it's been put together from 2 different models. Although looks to match closely.

Any thoughts?
