One of the problems we have in the UK is that small cars and family cars have been getting bigger (especially in width) but the standard sizes of garages, both single and double, in new build has hardly changed. The same problem happens with spaces in car parks.

Our house was built about 16 years ago and has a detached double garage. With the MGB and Rover 200 in it its fine but if we put either the Ford Focus or the MG ZT in there it becomes very cramped.

vdub, thats a hell of a garage. u must be self employed to need all that.

Sort of I co-own a restoration company and it's our new unit, hence why it's full of the old owners wood and crap.

My garage

Well it's taken me 3 years of hard work and about 2k to put in the best pit I can into my garage
10 foot long, 3 foot wide, 5'10 deep, 3mm steel walls, with 3x3" box section bracing on the outside, nothing gets out, nothing gets in!
The result

on the other, safety. big powder extinguisher, digital co monitor,
jacking blocks for the jacking beam, sliding seat for comfort

big lights and all electric run from a rcb, chemical resistant 2k paint on the inside, sacrificial zinc paint then marine rubber on the outside , rubber floor, 2" kingspan on outside of pit to provide thermal break so no condensation, all surrounded by steel reinforced concrete ( 4.5 cubes ;D )

Jacking beam works a treat

It can be covered in boards when not in use

I love it, now the mantas can be as clean under as on top ( eventually :P )

I really don't see the point of blanking out reg numbers - they are visible on the car everytime you use it - I think this "cloning cars from pictures on the internets" is just rubbish - no offence intended

Email address - sure don't post them on the internets unless you like Viagra offers and the chance to get a million dollars for just a small admin fee.

Home address and phone numbers - again I'd keep them off the internets same as I wouldn't post a pic that could easily identify the address/location of my house (like a google map link)

But reg numbers - I really don't think it's a big problem

It is a very big problem. They find your address from it. I use a MX and Enduro Forum and people I know at least one on there that after posting up a pic of his first bike, so it's not like bikes had been seen at his house before. It was stolen a day later.

No one knew he had it, not even his lass, he was trying to buck up courage to tell her. So the only way they knew where he lived was from the reg plate on his car in the pic

I have been told by more than one copper that it is not that easy to trace an owner and address from a reg number. They have to submit a genuine reason to do a PNC check - I tried, because I wanted to buy the car back - the best I could do was to find out if it was still registered or taxed or insured. But, where there is an illegal will there will be an illegal way. Personally, it seems that Google street map is causing people more concern.

Almost finished now still got the welding/cutting area to build (where the beetle is) and the second floor above plus we have to finish off the spray booth (where the green T3 is).

Then we can start building/finishing off our veh's

This week I got my plasma cutter working again on the new compressor which was nice.

When I've welded in all the new metal and replaced the front half and a good part of the rear, it will be resprayed, colour undecided It was primrose yellow, then brg, and now that seventies red/orange colour.

I feel for you fella, I worked out of a single garage of many years, with believe it or not 2 other people

Just built a big extension, 3x the size of the old garage and it still looks small, as I managed to fill it with new stuff, and spread old stuff about so I can use it
