The lathes.co.uk site has helped me with so much knowledge since I've known it, that I think you should buy something there from time to time when a meaningful opportunity arises.
In this case, time was the deciding factor: I actually have a reproduced "Myford 280" book on its way from the UK to me, alone it won't be here in time to be of any help to me for viewing and testing.
I love a favourable opportunity, but then again I'm not that cheap, with facilities that you want to still be around tomorrow, you should buy occasionally ...
