I think they're struggling with events at Driffield atm as the MOD has been pulling rank at the last minute for the past year or so, so people are a bit wary of booking it now.
Bit better with throttle pot fixed - sound is still terribe, apologies, phone seems to pick up the vacuum leak and nothing else (nothing serious, just a gasket needs some sealant on) - do have the upper silicone elbows collapsing under vacuum which I half expected so will need to think up something there.
Bottom ends on these are already forged and pretty strong. Don't really need to drop much compression at the boost level we're at so long as we keep intake temps under control, maybe a few tickles/tidyups here and there, mainly a check over, oil leak turned out to be a low spot on the block so will sort that out and there's a thrust washer that's picked up on some flashing - machining defect, should have been recalled but this one has obviously been missed.
Might have some shinies to go in at the same time....
Old 5-piece riveted and glued roofskin is now a lighter welded single piece effort. Much cursing and hammering was heard in the process. Sounded easier than it was, ripples all over the place to start with, got there in the end, needs a tickle to the right side is all.
