if you are spraying in a heatless garage then i would use the fast hardener

It says it is Polyester Basecoat paint.. Whats this? (I feel so noob). It isnt 2pack then? Is it worse..? have any drawbacks etc?

base coat is fine to spray with a carbon filter mask its the 2k with the Isocyanate in that can get through the mask.
the base on that site is expensive anyway

Is that expensive? and is the basecoat fine? the Polyester or whatever it is..

i would say that is cheap but you wont need 5 litres for a car i think aps sell base for 16 quid a litre.
what colour is you car and is it metalic

The car is currently blue (pearlescent) I believe. This changes colour slightly under different light levels I think?

I think Metallic will be a straight solid colour with metal looking flakes, right?.

I was thinking If I had 5L I could keep it for repairs later.

no the base coat is the metallic if you want it pearl again just buy some and add to the mix.
5 litres is a lot and does have a shelf life especially activator

Would pearl be worth adding to black? I wouldn't have a clue! lol.

if its the same colour i would get a litre of base and and a litre and a half laquer

there are black pearl paint jobs out there you would have to find 1 and decide if you liked it.

as for doing the car black without pearl then no base coat will be required or laquer just straight black paint

I'm a little confused now lol

My current colour is Blue, I want to change it to a black.
The effect I want is it to look like, for example a Black BMW. (Shiny and black)

then go into the paint shop and ask for black paint in the bmw shade that you want you dont have to use base coat and laquer you can simply use black paint

Would it shine well? and wouldn't it be prone to degrading due to no lacquer protecting it?

yes i would shine its the same stuff and it should be fine most cars with solid colours were done this way.
although if you go in for a certain paint ie bmw and you choose a shade you want that can often dictate what system will be used, solid or base and laquer

Sorry to be Mr. Questions lately..

Here is my understanding.. (hopefully you can educate me more)

Primer, Base coat, lacquer (I did this last spray job) and it was 2 pack.
I understand now I could use Base coat and lacquer (2pack).

When you mentioned I could simply use black paint.. would this be Cellulose you mean? This is the spray on and polish to a shine? Doesn't this paint wear faster and be a solid, i.e. no metal flake or pearl?

I'm not really too sure.. so thought I'd ask

no the black is still 2 pack and is applied as the laquer would be its exactly the same process but without the base coat cheaper aswell

So, woud lacquer still be applied? (I blame my tiredness, sorry )

I have been reading up on Cellulose... I might give that a try this time.. I don't know.. I found some Cellulose super jet black gloss paint.. What would you suggest? would it be easier? Do I simple add thin layers and buff up?
