R'nach - yeah, you can still bounce a quarter off of her... Oops, sorry. Wrong forum...
Chunkolini - it's all her, dude. I stuck a bit of metal together for her, but she designed the sculpture, submitted the proposal, got the commission and she did the mosaic and took care of the logistics. I'm not kidding when I said I shut the lights out in my shop and that's the last I saw of it. She's the artist, I'm just a fabricator.
Strada - thanks for the kind words. I agree, it will continue to improve. I am curious to see how well it will hold up in its new location. 60 mph winds which will drive saltwater straight into the sculpture are a common occurrence here.
DB - thanks, dude. I was a proponent of the polished copper and dime stacked welds but was overruled by the artiste. I'm happy to say that I think she had it right. I've not seen anything more than y'all, but it looks pretty darn cool to me!
This forum was a huge help as I worked on this project, so thanks to everyone who contributes. I can only hope that documenting this build (in real time) has helped someone in some way.
I'll be taking a week or two off but I've got loads waiting in the wings and plan on staying around here a bit longer.
If anyone needs me I'll be on my bike or in the pub.
edit: to clarify, it will be sold by us. the hotel only gets it for a year. I'm already up on this one so it doesn't owe me anything, but it should end up paying for something nice.
