Why moggy ? ------question would old round tube single wheel tranny with fully floating brgs not be better, quite strong, as is. then possibly drill the half shaft for the wheel studs, smaller pcd easy change complete unit front entry diff and would be quite low ratio especially on 13 wheels

This formula has a set of rules that only allow moggy or reliant axles , transit would be far to big and heavy for these Cars as they
Only weight 500kgs ,
And I'm not sure a reliant engine has enough torque to turn a tranny diff

I will be building another two stockcars over winter, Another one that I'm already racing as mines getting a bit tired, and a bigger one running a tuned rover v8.
Got to start somewhere so rear axle

It's hard to tell but I've shortened the left tube 2" and made an enlarged diff pan.

There strong wheels as well! I weld 10mm solid roundbar around the lip of the rim.

Hi, I suppose wheels are a small price to pay, If you beef them up too much then something else more expensive would break.

Yeah something has to give, I was seeing tweety pie at the time so the wheels need to be a bit softer

Altering a few steering racks tonight,
Morris minor, you wouldn't have thought that they would only harden the section of the rack that was straight on

Thought I had better make a start before the season does , Rear axle out to sort a few jobs, new stub axle as these go oval and don't hold the wheel straight then snaps the half shaft.
And a bit of bracing on the panhard rod bracket.

Put half shafts back in and Splashed a bit of paint about, I hate painting well that's not entirely true I don't mind it but with welding fabbing and doing mechanical in the same place it's not ideal.

Not sure how I've not noticed this before - lots of good stuff !

I raced 2.0 bangers at Barford & Blyton for a few years (1997-2002 ish?), mainly Volvo 340s as they were RDW and one of the few cars light enough for me to tow behind my Nissan road car.
Normal routine was win the 1st heat, finish the 2nd heat, go out and get trashed in 3rd heat, leave the wreck at the track and go home - then start shopping for another MOT-failure.
Was slightly surprised to win the winter season at Blyton as a white-top, think it was mainly due to being quick around the corners and finishing most races. The points mounted up without me noticing.

Banger-rods were also a fun formula, up to 1600cc, radiator had to be in the original place so it was more "tap and spin" racing not full-contact, always a great experience

Cutting and blanking the nearside front brake caliper helped a lot as you could brake and steer at the same time, and the offside front brake pulled the car into the corner

F2s stock cars were racing most weekends, we saw the F1s at Blyton once - amazing machines that actually rattled your chest cavity when they went past

We went to watch shale racing at Scunthorpe once, shame nobody thought to tell us they run the oval in the opposite direction so we got sprayed where we were standing - very messy and we decided not to go racing there

the only shale track I ever raced on was at barrow. the track was in a sand quarry and it was hissing down all day the public bog was at the end of the track behind a tin sheet . the pee just went over the track so every time u went round u got sprayed with pee started the race as a white top at front was leading the race till last lap and and a redtop paul broach an absolute killer locked on to me I'm braking for the bend and hese pushing me faster I moved over he went through and won I came second never raced on shale again just on tarmac
