Stove blacking...

Being slightly cheeky and a tiny bit off topic Would the blacking spray paint or pastes be any good for colouring the outside of my metal melting furnace ( melting brass & aluminium ) ..It's a cut down LPG cylinder lined with three inches of refractory concrete , poured in over reinforcing mesh & a polystyrene former to make the cavity . I'd like to give is some sort of heat & rust resisting colour as it's on a frame set on castor wheels & will be living outside when not in use .
Or am I wasting my time and just need to put a couple of strong bin liners over it when it's cold & leave it like that till the next time I want to use it ?

I remember my Gran had a stove similar to this in her house - she used 'black lead' on it.

I think you want hi temp BBQ paint for that

When I stripped a cast iron fireplace, I painted it in a stove paint from B and Q. Came out well and has lasted a few years without flaking.

The black/cast iron one is nearly finished but in the meantime I had a chance to test fire the enameled one into a 500ltr buffer tank.

Got the whole tank charged to 70 degrees on 2 small wheelbarrow fulls of logs (mixture of pine and oak)...

On the second day it charged the tank from 20 degrees to 70 on one hod of anthracite...

Only use Liberon Iron Paste, have used it for as long as I can remember, a little goes a long way.

Yep, I've got some. It works well. I used it on the parts that were bare iron. The painted outside of the boiler I used calfire stove paint.
