Just fitted the new seat covers that Santa brought for my OH's Fiesta:




They look good and match the paintwork so that's a few brownie points in the bank . He also brought her a forward and rearward facing camera system for the car so if Halfords ever answer the phone I'll get it booked in for fitting. Most things are well within my scope but not modern cars with God knows what kind of fancy electronics and air bags and such like...

The cameras came from Halfords, via Santa of course , and fitting was included in the price.

In truth I've never had any problems with them so it make sense to me to let them do the work.

My putrid pink bath. This is a temporary bathroom (3 years and counting) so I needed to replace the bath silicone as it was manky. I've had one of those plastic sealing strips for about 2.5 years but never fitted it
It was banana shaped and the sticky backed tape was now useless so I had to glue it on and weight it down!
Not one of my proudest moments

Unfortunately the builders smashed the sink pedestal while installing a new soil pipe under the bathroom floor so I won't be able to sell it as a whole "vintage suite" for thousands of pounds!
Here's my 5 minute fix on the sink,
Just to the right out of shot it a 13A socket.....

Another plumbing related problem. I went into the eaves looking for something but only found a 2' diameter puddle, it was under to portable air conditioner so I just thought it had been moved and leaked out of the condenser pipe....
When I checked I felt a fine jet of water on my hand and followed it back to the Stuart Turner shower pump!

There's a 15mm copper pipe between the two pump halves that had a tiny pin hole spurting water out at quite a rate, it couldn't have been leaking for more that an hour so I was lucky I went in there! A quick disassemble and replacement pipe got it going again in about half an hour, not often a job like that goes so easily!

Bloke said it pops and farts when you put a load on it, I think they all do to a point anyway but I had a fettle as the fast and slow settings didn't seem to work and after an hour of farting about it now seems to have fast and slow speeds that correlate to the throttle setting!
Starts and idles better too
Oh and I put about 200ml of oil in it as that was very low as well.....
Hopefully this will rotavate the mess that is the back garden next spring.

You're probably more mechanically minded than me but, the oil everyone (me) forgets about is the gear/diff thing oil in the centre of the rotors. Mine came out like tar when I finally realised!

I repaired my spoon:

It was a victim of a large pan of mashed potato! You can see from the wear it has been in the family for a while! The new handle is a piece of spalted birch picked off the ground on a walk.

Nice one. I would have tapered it down towards the business end at the join so that future foodstuffs has nowhere to lodge....

Fixed a fuel leak.... on my little run out the other day, two things were more than apparent the pads need adjusting. And she was very thirsty probably used 4gallon in 30miles.

So I stripped the carb down. It was new last yr, the float bowl was full of swarf .
All the jets stripped, blown out. Hopefully it will sort it

Apart from clearing some space to gain access to my notcher and cutting some stainless sheet for tomorrows job, I also cleared the welding bench which left the magnet from the torch holder attached to the bench and not the holder. Araldite saved the day but whatever they used to bond the magnet into the base cup smelt like horses cleaning it out with a mini strippit disc!

Old B&D electric screwdriver whose batteries finally died. Opened it up to find it was powered by 3 AA batteries.
Soldered up a new pack from some Eneloops, now working better than ever.

Fixed the the leaking shower, nothing exciting about that except for the fact that I got to use my new Wera allen keys in anger. I'm easily pleased.

Fixed the dust extractor I posted about...

Less than £20 for a new motor which seems better quality than the original.
Cheers for the heads up on the Dyson motor.

Back together, and working better than new.
