It kind of would but would give a weld with excess carbon and grain growth.

Nitrogen would be the best alternative.

Unfortunately I use a twin regulator, so I've only got one bottle

I think the carbon dioxide, plus however much water vapour is in exhaust, would probably make it worse than no back purge.

Well, I bodged up the steady on the corner of Jo's caravan. Forgot to take a pic of everything assembled but here's the before pic and shot of the bracket I made. Sorry about the picture quality:

The steady pushes up on the cross bar and the angles on the end spread the load along the caravan walls.

Daughter came through the gates at home, listening to her phone, with head phones.

Puppy jumped up and snapped the plug off, in the phone.

It was broken off a couple of mm's down the hole.

Started off with my finest fine nosed pliers, nope.

Ground them down on the bench grinder, and after a bit of fiddling dug it out, in two bits.

Lottery ticket tomorrow me thinks.

This morning I started on fixing it.

Fixed the body work.

The Axils and wheels needed to be put right. and the treads needed sorting.

A good wash, I think the Head lights may need more work.

Thern a good wax and polish.

A small human is now making it go vroom vroom.

Of road.
Of bthe bed.
Of the sofa.
Of the dog.

But do I tell Mum, that small human was making fire this morning with flint and steel.


Or wait until it is wine o clock for her?

Having a picnic in the garden, with a dog, a land rover a Derpy, sheep and a small human.

No pics but found a leak on my tig set.. the flow tube bull nose gitting was just everso slighty loose. 6 hours later with a shut cylinder valve and i am still showing pressure

A Wheel Tappers Lamp.
Compete, but finished with a tar based paint.

It will not stop the rust, just cover it up.

Clean the rust off and a plate of brass was soldered on.

Not easy, as the whole lamp is soft solderd tin plate.

Even the fuel tank was holed.

Tidy fix, but it did cause issues later. It was a fraction to wide to fit inside again. But a few tweks of the plate had it fitted.

Painted and more brass sheet.

I have ordered a cork bung.

The light is quiet bright for the size of the unit.

This was a fun restoration.

Getting it to bits was cahallenge, dur to the thickness of the paint.

Bit It did allow me to uncover this.

To remove the paint I had to boil the whole lot in Caustic.

In Paint, yesl @slim_boy_fat my small friend is there.

Behind the Split pin and washer is a tough compression spring. But my toool for fitting this fitted and made fixing the pin a peace of cake.

Got the sprockets all fitted along with new shoulder bolt and new idler plate on this dough moulder.

The idler sprocket now has a double angular contact bearing heat shrunk in instead of a bronze bush.

The idler needs to have some float so I machined a few different bronze spacers until it had about 2.5mm of movement. Till I got on-site I wasn't sure what the offset needed to be. Big washer was needed to cover the open side of the bearing. Couldn't get a sealed one. Worked out absolutely perfect to be honest.

Original plate was 5mm and bent so I made a new one from 10mm.

Thanks to @Milkybars for doing the broaching. I finally have my own broaching press after collecting one from @Arclikeharrypotter today. Thanks again mate.
