You've just reminded me of the Transit euro5 motorhome debacle, cost me a set of pistons. Contemplating going to Ford for a set of new ones next season. It comes to something when you can't trust the parts specialists...A VW Crafter that's been a problem since before Christmas.
Recovered in twice for non-start.
First time it started straight off the recovery lorry, and the tech who looked at it, couldn't fault it. No faults stored, so after a road test it went back out, only to be recovered back the next day.
A bit more in depth look, and it took a bit cranking from cold to get it started, and once started was quite rough and smoking. Injector balances were all over the place, so a new set of injectors were ordered from a certain nationwide parts supplier.
Injectors were fitted, and it refused to start.
We tried every trick, but not even a glimmer of life, or even smoke.
After much discussion, a set of genuine injectors were ordered, and after fitting, the van fired up pretty much straight away.
Now on the face of it, the injectors look identical, with the VAG logo and part number ground off (it's not unknown for aftermarket suppliers to buy genuine items, and do this).
However, look closely at the font.
The aspect ratios of the fonts are different. It's not quite as obvious due to the different angles of the photos, but when I had the injectors side by side, it was quite apparent.
I'm sure @Ubique and @premmington can have a good guess at the supplier.
