I fell out with my sister over a bathroom, I re-plumbed the whole house and I was accused (by BIL) of using unnecessarily expensive fittings and pipe. I wasn't charging for my time, nearly two weeks! (they are both solicitors, if that gives you a clue). Grohe taps and copper pipe, plastic is cheaper apparently and there are cheaper taps.

You have my sympathy. I have two a$$hole type brother-in-laws. They are younger than me, so if they live long enough they are going to have a great shock to find out their side of the family have been excluded ( with cover letters ) entirely from my will.

I have only just (this year) started speaking to my sister after this episode and that was way back in the mid nineties. The main reason is because my mother is ninety four and I want her to be happy, they can fek off for me.

I was highly amused to see a little while later that "their plumber" had replaced all of the exterior waste pipes with the most horrendous looking white plastic, the gutters and downpipe were black. It looked horrendous but there is no accounting for taste, or ignorance.

Came home today to find the missus had treat herself to a new Power washer, the battery powered one I bought her for Christmas has started something. So this is her idea of a "toolkit":

An Ender 3 Max. The end of the Bowden tube was scorched and there was a major clog. After unclogging and replacing the nozzle and Bowden tube there was still an issue. Each print started well, but the hot end clogged up again after 10 minutes. Had me scratching my head. Turned out the front fan wasn't spinning (needed the fluff and dust build up removing). Caused heat creep into the throat and the filament was melting in that area resulting in a big plug of filament building up. Couldn't figure the problem yesterday but had it fixed within 20 minutes today. That's three 3D Printers I've had to fix this week.

So been continuing engine change fun, pulled out this slightly tired 22 year old engine, 11000 odd hours, change it before it dies, engine.

Then I cleaned and repainted some of the bilge.

Before and after.

Then last week, new engine arrived, we chucked it in on tractor forks, it's winter, boats in yard.

Started Monday morning installing the engine, pulled the prop shaft out so we could have a woodruff key cut into the shaft at same time and changed the cutlass bearing at the same time.

That's all done, just the loom to install tomorrow and we're done.

I'm embarrassed to say I've been working from a single double socket in my garage for many years. Extension leads needed for everything.

So I finally went and got 6x more double metal clad sockets and the trunking and just finished it tonight. I'll not know myself now!!

They are dotted around the garage to suit existing tools etc and if I need to charge a laptop when working on a car / battery maintainers etc

I put in 15 double gang switched wall sockets on three separate rings & two lighting circuits when I designed how I wanted the mancupboard to function just after we came here to Wales .

Had to add another four doubles and a double earth leakage socket to boot as well as wiring in the roller doors fused box spur
So pleased I put in a 9 way ( IIRC) consumer unit & most of the sockets some 17 yrs ago .

All of Monday morning of the above was spent enlarging a hole for the prop shaft by 20mm in a partition wall where it goes through, wanted to do a tidy job, tried to borrow a massive hole cutter and failed, no access with a jigsaw cutter, found a shop locally which had a 168 mm hole saw in stock, went and bought it 75€, before VAT, 89 inluded, we had an existing hole of 150mm. Had to block one side with ply, and build up 100mm of depth, so we could get a pilot drill in the middle, double partition wall, ply, gap, fibreglass.

Problem was big Metabo powerdrill wanted to break my wrist in confined space, barely had cm's to get the lot in with the huge hole cutter, gave up, finished with a Dewalt cordless, as it wanted to break my wrist slightly less, they don't half have some torque when they jam.

Neh, dead simple, plug and play, it's more the pulling all the floors up, and passing the new cabling which will be time consuming.

it's an indoors and outdoors dual control arrangement, so twice as much fun.
